THE BODY OF THE UNIDENTIFIED NEW YORK MAN WAS ESTIMATED TO HAVE BEEN LYING IN THE WOODED AREA FOR 24 TO 36 HOURS.

The body of an unidentified New York man was found Saturday evening in a wooded area between a residence and Interstate 80 in the southeastern part of Scrubgrass Township.

Venango County Coroner John Greggs said the body was sent to Erie County for an autopsy that was scheduled to be performed about late Sunday afternoon. Greggs said the man was about 40 years old and estimated he had been lying in the wooded area for 24 to 36 hours.

The body was discovered by a man who went for a walk behind his residence off Old Mill Road, a remote area between Emlenton and the village of Lisbon.

Greggs said there was nothing he saw that indicated foul play after being called to the scene about 6:30 or 7 p.m. Saturday. It is possible the man may have wondered from the interstate to the wooded area, he said.

Greggs said identification found in the man's wallet had two addresses, both from New York. His identity had not been confirmed by Sunday.

How the body got there also remained undetermined.

State police did not release any information on the incident.
